Dan has decades of experience with teaching various instruments and playing live music both as a soloist and in groups across the Mornington Peninsula and Australia.
Dan’s musical journey started as a child, when he and his brother fell in love with the music of The Beatles.
At 16, after many music lessons, Dan joined his first band, The Blue Screamers. The band got the opportunity to perform The Rolling Stones “Harlem Shuffle” live on The Early Bird Show.
Dan then moved on to study music improvisation on bass at the Victorian College of the Arts in the early 1990’s.
During this time Dan joined The Killjoys to record the “Ruby” album. He toured Australia with The Killjoys promoting the album and performing live on the Vizard Show, Countdown and Triple J Live at the Wireless. In 1991 “Ruby” won an ARIA award for best independent album.
Settling down on the Mornington Peninsula, Dan has spent 30+ years entertaining us in countless venues across the Peninsula. With his large repertoire of songs he never fails to include the audience with sing-a-longs and the ability to do ‘almost’ any request.
Always making sure to support and promote music on the Mornington Peninsula, Dan has also worked alongside many other musicians to create exciting shows and encourage them to become successful in their musical goals.
Dan is a seasoned performer, but he also loves teaching students and seeing them develop into musicians, achieving their musical goals and discovering the same love of music that he has.
That energy and enthusiasm, reminds him to keep learning himself, as there is always something new to discover in music.
Dan has also been repairing musical instruments for 35 years. Evolving his skills to be able to bring any instrument back to life after damage or disrepair. Sometimes a seemingly impossible task has resulted in an instrument no longer suffering in silence.
Dan is a great asset to the music industry. Through singing, teaching and even repairs, his years of experience have served to make his ability to entertain and encourage even stronger
The Dan Palamara Music workshop is a collection of local musicians, teachers, and experienced instrument repairers eager to help other musicians (and aspiring musicians) across the Mornington Peninsula and surrounds. Through our network of qualified and experience musicians, we’re able to offer tuition in a wide variety of instruments. Similarly, we’re also able to repair many different types of instruments.
Our goal at the Dan Palamara Music Workshop is to instill the same love of music in people that we have. Whether this is through teaching a budding musician a new instrument or performing for an audience, it’s always rewarding to share music with the everyone. For more experienced musicians, it’s also rewarding to reinforce a love of music and help them move further along their musical journey, or just get their instrument repaired so they can get back to playing.
Wherever you are in relation to music, we’re excited to work with you, share music, and generally just have fun.
